Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner is through to the semi-finals of the Miami Open after ending Thomas Mahach's winning streak. With power and explosiveness, the Italian won 6-4 6-2 against his Czech opponent.
Makhach overcame Andy Murray and Andrei Rublev to reach his first Masters quarter-final, but Sinner proved too fit for the Czech to advance.
The 22-year-old Italian will face third-seeded Daniil Medvedev in a rematch of their meeting at the Australian Open in January.
Sinner defeated the Russian to win the first Grand Slam title of his career at Melbourne Park and has been in consistently excellent form ever since.
The world number three won another title in Rotterdam before reaching the semi-finals in Indian Wells, where he lost to Carlos Alcaraz. It is also his only defeat of the 2024 season.
The rivalry between Sinner and Alcaraz continues as the 20-year-old Spaniard plays our star Grigor Dimitrov in the round of 16 on Thursday. He and Sinner will then meet again in the final in Miami.
